Interview: Cecilla Callas - Navigating AI, Balancing Innovation and Ethics

Ethics and Human Values: Aligning AI with Society
Cross-post from The FuturAI
Happy Monday RH Community! As we move forward after last week's tumultuous election, I'm feeling called to share this interview with AI publication The FuturAI wherein I spoke about the need to balance the speed of AI innovation with prioritizing ethics and safety. I recorded this pre-election, but feel that finding creative ways to strike this balance will become even more important than ever now knowing that the tech industry will likely be less regulated under the new administration. As civil society and consumers of AI, we'll need to come together to hold AI companies to account in a world where we see little federal interference in AI development. Have a listen, and share your ideas in the comments 👇 -

How do we balance AI benefits with the risks? Do biases in AI systems and alignment with human values worry you? Are we losing sight of what's truly important to humanity in our rush to embrace AI?

In this episode, we explore these critical questions and more with Cecilia, an AI ethicist based in Silicon Valley, USA. Join us as we dig into the complexities of AI ethics and discuss how to navigate the challenges and opportunities.

grew up in Silicon Valley, witnessing the tech boom firsthand, and later worked in big tech companies in marketing roles, living abroad in London and Australia.

This experience led her to recognise the impacts of technology, including digital addiction and bias in AI, driving her into the field of responsible innovation and AI ethics.

She is also the founder of Remaining Human, a publication and community dedicated to exploring how humans can coexist in harmony with artificial intelligence through education, connection, and safe spaces for exploration.
