An AI Agent automation solution helped photographer Joanne Topper to post more frequently and consistently on social media while saving time and costs, helping her to grow her business more easily as a solo entrepreneur.
The Business
Joanne Topper specialises in headshot photography for women from her East Sussex-based studio in the UK, offering a photo session that allows you to immerse yourself in an experience where you’ll come away feeling brave, liberated, inspired, and energised—as well as with fabulous pictures.
As she describes:
Over the years, as I’ve taken pictures of women, one thing has become certain: a woman comes to have her picture taken when she has a story to tell. I’ve heard many stories about why she desires to immerse herself in a transformative photoshoot.
Whether it’s for building confidence, celebrating a milestone, overcoming a health issue, refreshing her business profile, being at a life crossroads symbolising the start of a new chapter, or seeking a fresh look for an online dating profile, marking this moment is a powerful motivator.
Each session is a collaborative journey, carefully crafted to reflect your unique story and the beauty of who you are right now.
The Challenge
As part of the next stage in her marketing strategy, she needs to focus on social media, including Instagram and LinkedIn.
As her marketing specialist suggested:
My marketing support has advised that the first step in the process is to be seen, then educate the viewers, followed by promoting myself with contact details while building trust along the way.
Yet being self-employed she as limited time to post regularly on social media:
Being self-employed and building a business incrementally from scratch with no hired support, at times it’s so overwhelming that you can’t see the wood for the trees.
Every step feels like a mammoth milestone. Personally, I’m better at doing the practical work than the written word due to dyslexia and a lack of confidence.
Joanne came across me at our local business center and we agreed to work on an AI Automation solution that could help her post more on Instagram using less of her time:
So, when I was lucky enough to come across ChatGPT and the unwavering support of the BIPC Business Centre in Brighton UK, my introduction to Pranath and how to best utilise automation in my business seemed like a natural progression to up my game, as well as taking a brave step into paying for support.
The Solution
Joanne wanted to post on Instagram in a specific design, 3 posts at a time once a week, over a 4 week cycle.
This would create a 3x3 grid of images over 4 weeks with a row of spacer images.
She also wanted to write her own posts, as opposed to also using AI to automate post creation, which could be another option for a different client.
I wanted to create an AI Agent to do this for her that was easy to control and use, so for this I created a master control sheet in google sheets.
In this master control sheet, Joanne adds post details including:
Post text
Post image
Another column ‘Date posted’ is used to register the date and time the post is sent to Instagram by the AI Agent.
The images used are uploaded to a separate google drive folder by Joanne, where she then takes a link from to add to the google sheet.
This was the AI Agent I made to do the job:
The AI Agent follows this process on the same day and time each week:
Check the Google Sheet for the next post not yet posted
Get the next post text & image link
Download the image from the link
Post on instagram with the text and image
Update the google sheet with the date and time posted
Repeat this 2 more times (3 times in total for a line of 3 posts)
So whenever Joanne has time that convenient for her, she can update the google sheet with new post details.
She has the choice to update post details as she goes along during the month bit by bit, or do a whole batch in one go for example to prepare an entire months instagram posts in advance.
As long as Joanne continues to update the sheet whenever she has time, this AI Automation will regularly without fail post these to instagram at the specified day and time.
Effectively this AI Agent is a bit like Joanne having her own ‘AI social media employee’ working for her diligently every day, week and month.
As long as Joanne keeps supplying her ‘AI social media manager’ with work when she can, the AI social media ‘employee’ will get on and get the job done for her at the right day and time, so Joanne can focus more on what she enjoys most, doing great photography for her clients.
Joanne can’t really afford to employ a full time human employee to be a social media manager, but now her new AI Agent can do this job for her for a fraction of the cost and time.
The Result
Joanne explains how the AI Agent solution we delivered helps her post more on social media in less time:
Introducing AI automation has been vital for my accountability and momentum. With this tool, I can prepare two months’ worth of posts in advance in just one day and then relax, knowing the stress of keeping to a timeline has been eased—a timeline I’ve struggled to maintain on a daily basis.
She also explains how this has helped her business in other ways:
Investing in this support has helped me stay current with technology, feel proactive, and freed up valuable time to focus on other pressing priorities
