This lecture is from the course Generative AI For All in Plain English - Essentials.
This lecture discusses the exponential growth of data creation and its impact on the development of artificial intelligence (AI). We look at examples of the staggering amount of data generated every minute across various online platforms, such as YouTube, Twitter, Amazon, Instagram, Google, and email.
I explain that this massive increase in data, which has primarily occurred in recent years due to technological advancements like the internet, social media, and the digitisation of books, has been a crucial factor in the rapid progress and increasing capabilities of AI.
I draw a parallel between the way humans become more capable through experience and how AI becomes more powerful and sophisticated as it has access to larger amounts of data to learn from.
