Dispatch: The Dangers of AI Slavery & The Benefits of Metrics for AI Project Success
Making sense of the moral risks of AI as well as the huge potential benefits
Hello Friend,
How do we use AI, this technology with so many potential dangers and benefits?
We need to look at both, to try to reduce the risks and maximise the benefits.
One of the biggest obstacles to businesses using AI successfully, is not defining clearly what success actually means.
In this week’s business article, I look at how business leaders can define clear metrics for what success actually means when using AI to ensure it happens.
One of the biggest causes AI risks, is ignoring them.
In this weeks spotlight post I look at an AI risk you might not have even heard of, or might have trouble believing is even possible, the risk of creating sentient, feeling, intelligent AI, that we enslave.
I’d love to hear your thoughts or feelings on either of these posts, so do feel free to leave them in the comments, there’s much to think about.

Spotlight: The Silicon Leash - Are We Building an AI-Powered Slave Economy?
The Moral Dilemma of AI as Servants, Slaves and Sentient Beings
This article explores the possibility of humanity creating "AI slavery": intelligent, sentient, feeling AI systems that are exploited like historical human slavery.
I argue that the powerful economic incentives driving the rapid development of advanced AI could lead us to repeat the mistakes of the past if we are not careful, failing to recognise the moral status of these AI beings. This raises crucial questions about the ethical implications of our technological progress and whether humanity can evolve beyond patterns of dominance and exploitation.
