Hello Pranath,

I'm looking for a place where I could learn AI to be applied in my work as Software Engineer.

I would like to ask if your newsletter is focused ro my profile as well.

Thanks!

Hi Marcos,

Thanks for your message.

I think it depends on more than your profile, it depends on your beliefs and understanding about not only the future of software engineering but the future of work generally.

For context, I was previously a web developer and software developer for over 15 years so I understand your industry.

However my newsletter is not specifically about the software industry, it’s about demonstrating how AI and related tools can help do work tasks across a range of different industries, including some examples of where it can help with coding.

Honestly, I think the future of software engineering is over, and it’s no longer helpful to think of having a career as a software developer. Junior roles are rapidly becoming redundant because AI can do many of those tasks.

I’m skeptical that there is a long term future for your industry, and many jobs will become redundant, tech layoffs are accelerating already.

What I focus on is a broader understanding of the new landscape, forget old roles like software developer, more about preparing for the future of work of hybrid Ai enhanced skills, use of automation and AI that make software development redundant.

So no, if you want a newsletter about AI for software developers, this is not it.

But if you want a newsletter that will give you a better idea of how and why software development is going to be a dying career, and how to prepare for and understand what’s next , this is your newsletter 🙂

Thanks for the clarification Pranath!

I respectfully disagree with the sentence "I think the future of software engineering is over, and it’s no longer helpful to think of having a career as a software developer."

I think is still needed to have someone to tell the AI what to do, the specs (yes, this could be what is called Prompting Engineering) and ensuring the code generated by the AI is good and performant. There are many decisions that an AI cannot take nowadays and I think we are far to reach a point on which that could happen.

I will keep an eye on your newsletter 🙂

"I find most writing about AI is either very technical so hard to understand for most people, or written by those who don’t have a good understanding of how AI works." This is exactly how I feel coming from a similar background and having such aspiration. You chose a good mission showing your leadership communicating tech accurately with human touch. All the best in this exciting journey 👏

First, thanks for engaging over in notes, it lead me here.

Second, I have a partner that sold an AI company almost ten years ago and since has put about 45 million into his current AI company. if it's interesting or helpful to you at all - I'd be happy to make an intro. He's a great dude to talk AI, in general and makes a great podcast guest.

If not, totally cool. I'll be dropping in to check out your work from time to time, regardless.

Appreciate ya
